Tiny Talk Tuesday & Faces

Esmé at 32 months is talking so much, it's hard to keep track of it all. I get running dialogues like this one while she was wanting me to find her toy camels to play with in the bath:

"I found the dromedaries! They were in my belly button, and I took them out!" (Holds up imaginary speck.) "I looked everywhere for them, and I found them right in my belly button! You can hug them now!"
---------------

And she is already learning how to "fix" the books to suit her purposes. I may have an accounting background, but she did NOT learn this from me!

Esmé gets to pick five books to read before bedtime each night. Last night she handed me seven. We asked her to count them again - only five allowed!

So she counted them out: "1-2-3-4-5-6-------5!"

Nobody said anything about not counting backwards, right? No rules broken, no harm done. (We're working on the alphabet backwards, too.)
---------------

She's very particular about her ice. "I don't like hot ice!"
---------------

Someone brought out a bag of sugar and asked Esmé what it was. Her answer: "It's for the ants!"

Yep - the ants have been feasting on any sugary thing we leave lying around at our house! The one good thing about colder weather is there are fewer of them around.
---------------

She's been tearing around the house, yelling, "I can fly! I can fly!" Rudolph, anyone?
---------------

And Esmé was carrying a "staff" around during one of her impromptu nativity enactments (you never know just what role she'll be playing from moment to moment). I asked if she wanted juice.

"No. Shepherds drink coffee, not juice!"

I have no idea where that one came from. We're not even big coffee drinkers here.
---------------

And here's Esmé's recent Christmas observation after the Christmas party we went to on Friday (hosted by the company I do work for):

"That was the bestest candy cane I ever heard!"

I'm still wondering what the candy cane said to her.

For I Heart Faces, here are some shots of said candy cane and the traditional party...

Thursday 13 - Gallery

I've been stealing Mommy's camera and working on my photography. Thought I'd show you thirteen of my latest pieces of art in this 25-month-old's online gallery...

#1 - I'm becoming more intentional in what I take photos of - not just clicking on the camera to see the flash... I like seeing the world through the camera lens! Like here I am watching what my toes look like straight...

#2 - ...and when I curl them.
#3 - I wanted a picture of Tweetie - but she's kind of high on top of the fridge. This is what she looks like from my level.

#4 - Speaking of which, did you ever realize how neat and uncluttered the lines of your house look at toddler level? I just love taking photos of straight lines and right angles. Like this one...

#5 - ...and this one.

#6 - Not all things are neat and uncluttered. Here's a fun angle of our computer desk and my wonderful stepladder, with a snippet self-portrait in the upper right corner.

#7 - Speaking of which (my new favorite phrase) - here's another self portrait for you.

#8 - One of the best tips in photography (and any art) is to focus on the things you love. Like my purple dress shoes.

#9 - Speaking of which, if I love my tiny shoes so much, imagine how much Pappa must love his BIG shoes. So I took a photo for him, too.
#10 - Speaking of which, here's Pappa trying to avoid my paparazzi techniques. But he just set me up for a brilliant photo, huh?

#11 - And I use my paparazzi techniques on Mommy, too. But she's a little more cooperative, giving me time to focus on the intricacies of her turtleneck sweater...
#12 - A shot of the walkway by our house.
#13 - And here I am trying to put a bullet through the things I hate - only camera shooting doesn't work the same as gun shooting, unfortunately. Yukky toothbrushing stuff... More Thursday 13 participants can be found here.

Thanks to Samulli for the Thursday 13 header.

Creative Camera Angles

We saw this "Creative Camera Angles" idea on 5 Minutes for Mom that I decided to try out.

Here I am taking a photo head on:

Now I'm trying an upward angle.
And now a downward shot.

Oh, bummer. These are all photos Mommy took. Someone gave me the camera upside down, so I didn't find the button and never got any photos...
Just as well, though. I already have a zillion photos of my feet and plenty of the ceiling.

Wordless(ful) Wednesday

Here's the budding photographer...
Here are just a few of the 599 photos of my feet that I took on our trip to Scotland. Great feet, eh?!

And one of the ceiling of our rental car for a little variety...

Just a reminder that Operation Love Zimbabwe is only FOUR days away!

Beira Photos

Daddy was up in Beira in October, doing some work on a new school there. Here are several random photos from his trip that I thought were cool and wanted to share them with you.

Though I wouldn't want to ride in most of these boats...

These are some huge pretty fish!
This was some fancy building that was never finished, and now is occupied by just about anyone who fights their way in. I wonder who's collecting rent?

This and That

This blog is going to be a miscellany of this and that, kinda like my attention span these days.

Gecko. We found a tiny gecko with the skin falling off his head so you could see the inside. He was missing part of his tail, too. I wanted to play with him (he was a little slower than most), but Mommy wouldn't let me.

Bidet. I put my toothbrush down the bidet drain. (Look up the definition if you don't know what that is, though if you were Portuguese, you would know. The bidet - not the toothbrush. If you don't know what a toothbrush is, shame on you.) Mommy cleverly got it out and drenched it in mouthwash.

Log in Bathtub. I had my first log in bathtub experience. Mommy wants to know what the proper protocol is for this event. Do you grab baby out first, or log out first?

Drinking Water. I love drinking the water in the bathtub. (When reading this entry, ignore the one above, please.) Especially sucking it from my washcloth. What do Mommies do when the tap water is not necessarily safe for drinking?

Bubbles and Play Dough. Mommy made homemade bubbles and play dough for me last week. I tasted both of them and they are NASTY! She's got some serious work to do on those recipes.

Safety Gates. Daddy installed these silly gates around the house that keep me from going places. They still need locks, but we are getting there . . . In the meantime, it messes up my skateboard practice:

Photography Business. Mommy let me use her camera, and I think I am going to start my own photography business. Here is my first photo of some of my favorite things - electrical outlets and phone jacks. Maybe I better not quit my day job just yet, huh?

Tylenol Effect. Last week I was running a low-grade fever, so Mommy gave me some Tylenol. Boy, did that make me feel good! I was jumpin' off the bed and everything! Here is a video of me on Tylenol. (After this, Daddy put the mattress on the floor. Good thing, 'cuz I then proceeded to dive off head first and then cried about it.)
