Coast!

What's better than eating popsicles? Eating popsicles with cousins, of course!

Yep, Mommy and I drove up to see my 7 C cousins up in Portland on Saturday!

I LOVE my cousins! Just don't ask me ALL their names, or I will go cry on Grandpa's shoulder.

And by the time you're reading this, I'll be out at Gleneden Beach with my Grandma & Grandpa.

Since we won't have internet access there, I thought I'd share some coast photos with you so you can be with us in spirit.

We went to the coast 2 weekends ago to celebrate "C" school! Don't you love how the coast works with so many letters - aquarium, beach, coast, dunes, elephant seal, fish, ocean, sea, waves, you get the idea...

Actually, the reason we went was for Pappa to get in a game of raquetball in Coos Bay. What's a 2-hour drive when it comes to raquetball, huh? Here I am hanging out at the gym.

But then we got pizza and went to Sunset Bay. And here are some photos. It was sunny when we got there...

...but by the time we ate, the fog had rolled in. No less fun, just a little cooler...

Thursday 13 - Beach Photos

I went to the beach with some of my cousins last weekend before coming home. And we got LOTS of photos... Here are 13 of them.

#1 - Me - checking out that awesome sand!

#2 - Me again - in my new rain outfit that I got while shopping with Auntie Audra in Portland. Those boots are so cool!
#3 - Making my own tracks! There was lots of foam on the beach that day - kind of like a big bubble bath!
#4 - There were some cool sand "cliffs" to slide down and climb back up. Here is one of my cousins helping me climb back up.
#5 - And here I am investigating some of that awesome sand with another cousin.
#6 - More sand play. Notice that big seaweed thingie in the middle of the photo that the boy kid in the back just threw...
#7 - Getting lessons in sandcastle making. Actually, it looks like a committee meeting gathered around while I do all the work.
#8 - Yep, I sure do work hard - maneuvering that big shovel...
#9 - Steppin' down to the beach with cousins.
#10 - Cousins experiencing the sunset...
#11 - You didn't think I'd get wet, did you? Fooled you! I even sat right in the water!
#12 - A cousinly pose.
#13 - Saved some sand just for you! Here! Just leave a comment and we'll draw one random winner for all the sand I collected in my pockets and car seat...

More Thursday 13 participants can be found here.

Thanks to Samulli for the Thursday 13 header.

Tiny Talk Tuesday

We haven't done a Tiny Talk post in a while, but we're trying to get back on track with all our regular weekly postings, so here's one for ya, narrated by Miss Esmé at 21 months.

---------------
Mommy says 50% of my verbal communication consists of the word "Mommy!" I yell "Mommy" for her to come and see, to come and help, to come and listen to what I have to say, to feed me, to make sure she's paying attention, and just to make sure she's still there.

Then 25% of my verbal communication consists of the word "Nope!" combined with a head shake. We play 20 Questions, Mommy and me, to figure out what I want. I keep saying "Nope" over and over until she gets it.

Then the last 25% of my communication consists of zillions of words, like "strawberry" and "pencil" and "chips" and "stop barking" and "get down" and "upstairs." And with all that, I can make myself very clear...

---------------
While driving in Scotland, I dropped my dummy (aka pacifier) and asked Mommy to get it. What a fun game that turned out to be! I kept saying "Mamma dummy! Mamma dummy!" and she kept saying, "No, Mamma is smart!"

---------------
I like describing things now, like calling Mommy smart, or saying if my food is hot or cold, or if my balloon is up or down. Or telling you "I pretty!"

---------------
OK, that's it for today, folks. Except I promised you some beach photos with my next post, so here they are - photos from our South African visit last month. Don't ya wish you were there?!

This is me boogieboarding...

Checking out the view at Pringle Bay...
Collecting shells with Mommy.

And playing in the sand with my friend Sarah at Strand Beach.

Scuba Expert

We went to Ponta do Ouro again the first weekend of November! Daddy has been working on his scuba certification, and now he is duly certified.

He got to find Nemo.
And look like a fish and play with the fish.
Plus I got to play on the beach a lot! I love the beach!
Making footprints with Daddy is lots of fun!

Trippin' to Tofo

A VERY long time ago - way back on the first weekend of October, we took a really long trip to Tofo Beach. Daddy was working up in Beira and on his way home, so me an' Mommy an' G an' R drove the whole seven hours up to meet him.

On the way, we had a flat tire, but G is an expert and got the spare on just fine, with only a couple of curious bystanders checking us out.

Here are me an' G an' R chillin' at the bar above the beach.
This is me an' Daddy way way out in the ocean catchin' some waves.
This is the restaurant/bar above the beach.
This is the "chalet" we stayed in. G an' R stayed in a little hut with a donkey camped in front. Seriously.

This was our morning visitor in the self-catering "chalet."

This is the view from our "chalet" (looking away from the beach).

This is me taking a bath and helping myself to some shampoo.

This is Mommy washing my hair. She doesn't undestand why I don't like water in my face when I have no problem getting ocean water in my face with Daddy.

This is me perfectin my skimboarding pose. Workin' it!
OK, now I got it right!
