Thursday 13 - Dog Days of Summer

In case you're a fellow toddler looking for something exciting to liven up the last dog days of summer, let me tell you my surefire ways to do so:
  1. Climb up on the craft supply shelf. Grab the jar of beads. Dump it out on the floor and sort out the pink beads. Put them in your little green wheelbarrow and wheel it outside. Dump the beads out on the deck, where most of them will fall through the cracks into the netherworld below.
  2. Take teacups full of sand from your new sand pit and dump them into your new little swimming pool. Right after Mommy has cleaned it out.
  3. Pretend to write in a library book with your markers. Don't actually write anything, though, or you'll get in trouble.
  4. Take a DVD and drag it on the floor, or better yet, on the sidewalk outside. Then put it in the DVD player and see how much fun Mommy has trying to get the DVD to work.
  5. Pick up the phone, hit "redial," and talk.
  6. Unfold the folded laundry. Roll in it, then roll it up neatly in "your" style. Pretend you never touched it.
  7. Take an egg out of the fridge and carry it around for a bit to see if anyone pays attention. Then go back to the fridge for some hot sauce.
  8. Squeeze some lotion onto Mommy's toothbrush and hand it to her.
  9. Spill sugar on the kitchen floor and observe the resulting ant attack.
  10. Stick your toe into Mommy's eye.
  11. Then cover Mommy's eyes with her hair.
  12. Find all the crafts you've ever done with google eyes and rip the eyes off. Play with the eyes.
  13. Sing into the fan.
Any other suggestions? Please do let me know. I'm running fresh out of ideas...

Remember when I said once that I thought Charlotte and Esme would have fun together... now I KNOW they would and am glad they live so far apart! Esme has WAY too much to teach my sweet little girl. :)

That sounds like full day to me!

Sorry, we can't help with ideas--our last few days have been spent fighting a fever and trying to get enough rest to feel 100% better. Someone woke up pretty alert and active this morning, though, so I'm guessing we're back to normal. Let's see what havoc--I mean fun--we wreak today!

From Evie:

Get your glitter out of the "unreachable" drawer and sprinkle it all over the floor. Be sure to do this right after Mommy vacuums.

"Help" wash the dishes, resulting in a very fun time of watching Mommy mop the floors afterward.

Pull all the tissues out of the box and leave them in a wadded heap. Of course, act like you have no idea who did this.

When Mommy is in the shower, use your stool to reach the bathroom counter. Find her lipstick in her makeup bag. Put several coats of lipstick on your lips, cheeks, and eyebrows.

This should keep you busy for at least half an hour...

Some things Riley likes to do are go into the bathroom, stand on step stool and turn on the sink- splash water all around and throw rolls of toilet paper into the water. He also likes to take lotion and smear it all over Ashlyn's baby dolls so they are covered in slimey white stuff. Yesterday he climbed onto the counter, got a cookie, ran to me and said cookie and then ran off stuffing it in his mouth so I couldn't get it- all the while leaving a trail of crumbs on the just cleaned floor. Another of his favorite activities is to get my chapstick and smear is on his face (cheeks, lips, chin, wherever he can reach)- then when that isn't fun anymore- he sticks his finger in it and starts picking out chuncks of it to smear other places. Oh and then there is the pull every book off the book shelf trick - he is quite fond of that one. Or the say you want to sit here, but really mean there, here, there, here, there, here, etc. Oh and there is the constant taking all his clothes off thing- then the obligatory mommy chase around the house while I try to get him dressed again. He has lots of fun each day ;)

Reading your list was the next best thing to seeing a toddler in action ... seriously!

LOL, I love it. My little guy is obsessed with getting eggs out of the fridge too! What's that about?

He's also dumped beads into the deck netherworld, unfolded then re-folded all the laundry after rolling in it and redialed the phone.

As for the DVD...ours went in the toaster. I didn't discover it until our toast smelled funny *sigh*

So funny.. though most of them at the time were probably a little frustrating..
Don't you love that we can look back on things and giggle :-)

Now that's a smart girl who doesn't actually color in the library book even though I'm guessing the urge was strong. :)

Reach the food coloring off of the counter and make beautiful artwork on your light gray carpet in your bedroom. Then whenever someone comes over, grab them by the hand and take them to your room, throw the rug that is covering the artwork aside, and show them your beautiful work that you are so very proud of.

When you are supposed to be playing in the tupperware while mommy is cooking, open the gallon of veggie oil and spill it onto the tiled floor, then bend down and lick it up like a dog. Then tell Daddy to sprinkle powdered comet (to soak up the grease) on the dark gray grout. It will lead to hours in the tub for you to get the grease off and hours of watching mommy on her hands and knees trying to get the white junk out of the grout.

Are you sure this isn't a straight-up list of ways to drive Mom totally bonkers? Whatever you do, don't let my kids see this.
