Business

Hope everyone is having a happy weekend! We’ll be posting photos tomorrow of the non-birthday get-together on Friday, but today we’ve got a few items of business to attend to.

First, thank you to Lori at Teacher Turned Mommy for passing on the Bloggy Goodness Award! I love reading about Lori’s gorgeous kiddies – Blake and Colby. It always amazes me that a mom can survive with a baby not all much older than Esmé and take care of a newborn, too – people like you are my heroes!

Now I get to pick 3 blogs from the dozens of excellent ones to pass this award on to. So I’m hereby passing this on to:
  • Angie at 7 Clown Circus. Not just for making me jealous with photos of her romantic vacation, or for having some of the cutest kids out there, but also for being real on her blog.

  • Kathy at Kathy Likes Pink. For making me laugh, for some gorgeous photos in her posts, and for the pink brightness I get every time I view her blog.

  • Nell at Casual Friday Everyday. It’s fun watching the belly grow! Plus I appreciate the constant reminder to enjoy the moment – these mommy moments pass by so quickly!

Second, I got tagged by Jen at One Mom’s World to share six random things about my life right now.

We’ll start with six random things about Esmé:

  1. She is 16 months old today!

  2. She has 13 teeth and three just ready to burst any second.

  3. She is ambidextrous – she eats, colors, and throws ball with both hands.

  4. Her favorite color seems to be pink, if evidenced by the color of markers she prefers to draw with.

  5. She has a gazillion stuffed monkeys.

  6. She’s a water baby – she was born in the water and still loves it!

Now six random things about Esmé’s mommy:

  1. I haven’t lost a Boggle game yet (except the online version, but I’m sure the winners use a computer program or something to get their winning scores).

  2. I can’t swim.

  3. I like white water rafting. I went on a 2-man inflatable kayak with my husband the day after I found out I was pregnant with Esmé, and we tipped over – my first time ever tipping over. All that training kept me calm as I told myself to relax and let my life jacket do the work. It did – I came up under the overturned kayak and couldn’t get air. Then the training kept me calm as I told myself to “walk” to the end of the boat (of course I took the long route) – and finally I got air! And I hung on the boat all the way through the rapids. It was only after I was all safe and sound that I panicked.

  4. I am an out-of-practice flautist.

  5. I’ve always worked in accounting or information systems. Right now I handle the finances for our Africa project. When I took the Myers-Briggs test for my company a few years ago, though, it surprised everyone by showing that I was a frustrated artist. I think orchestra conductor was at the top of my occupation list. Unfortunately, being an artist takes talent as well as personality . . . If I could choose today what I would be when I grow up, I would probably choose something in social work. Or I’d be a midwife. Or I'd read books for a living.

  6. The kitchen is an area my OCD shows up in full force. I either am in the middle of cooking a dozen recipes or can't handle the thought of cooking at all.

So, all awardees – consider yourselves tagged and pass on the award if you so choose. And get out and have some fun before the weekend is over!
