New mom Kate is planning to enjoy her maternity leave and isn't too excited about returning to her office job. But her plans take an unexpected turn when she gets a phone call about a body pulled from San Francisco Bay that might be her brother-in-law.
As she works to connect the dots in this ever-twisting case, she uncovers unknown talents that just might lead to the perfect work-from-home job - as a private investigator.
If you're looking for a clean, fun mystery, this is a book for you! The underlying new-mom issues really make this a humorous and entertaining story. I can so identify the pants that don't button, the torn emotions when separated from my baby, and the To Do lists! Yep - Kate is definitely a soul-sister of mine with her lists - the ones that make you feel organized and in control even though nothing seems to get crossed off. And are oh so essential to the new-mommy foggy state of mind, especially when trying to solve a murder case!
The book is an easy-to-read page-turner, and there is a well-rounded mystery plot. Like all great mysteries, I didn't guess the villain until the end, but when I did, it was an "of course!" moment.
Diana Orgain is from San Franciso. She has acted professional in many theater roles and national commercials. Diana has a BA and MFA in Creative Writing. "But then a funny thing happened - on the way to becoming a mystery writer, she went and had a baby…"And that little experience certainly permeates her debut thriller! I'm eagerly anticipating future books in her Maternal Instincts Mystery series.
