Mission Sunday

Esmé's Mommy here.

Right now it feels a little like we're "in the middle of nowhere," not physically, but in terms of knowing what the next phase of our life is. So I was intrigued by Ellie's blog: In the Middle of Nowhere.

Especially Ellie's post, "On Being a Missionary." My first reaction on reading this: Are you me? If you have ever worked as a missionary, I bet you'll be able to to relate to her longing for home. And if you just want a better understanding of the emotions of the returned missionaries in your midst, you'll find it in that post. Check it out...

In other news, here is a recent photo of Mavinga (with his father) that we received from my mom. He is growing up so fast! It's hard to believe it's been 5 months since we've seen him.
We haven't given much of an update on our future plans, mainly because we're not sure of them at this point. Our agreement to manage the Murwira Children's Home in Zimbabwe fell through. We investigated another option in Zimbabwe that also seems to be a dead end. At this point, we are at our somewhat empty house in Oregon, waiting for the next thing... We've got plenty of work we can do on this house. And I've decided to enjoy and appreciate all the "luxuries" of life in the US while we're here, like libraries and gymnastics lessons and craft stores and Taco Bell!

We still are working on the Isaiah 58 Missions organization - not sure exactly where it will be used, but convinced that God's call in Isaiah 58 is meant for us.

Enjoying some small luxuries while one can is good. One never knows where the wind blows us next.
I'm not a missionary, but an Expat since some years, hopping around and can relate a little bit.
I never know if this time, I should put in the effort to do something in the yard, or will I have to be somewhere else again, before the or flowers blossom or the fruits are ripe.

We are currently "on hold" too. Hubby being in the US and me in Hungary. Oh well.
Wishing you and your family all the Best, may something good happen!

If your goal to serve and help others is worth anything... it is worth waiting for.

I am sure Heavenly Father has the perfect assignment for you... it just isn't ready quite yet.

Amen to the Taco Bell... I can't remember the last time I ate there. Darn that Weight Watchers. Ü

Gosh, y'all have done and plan to do such wonderful things! I'm sure God has more big plans to use y'all to further His kingdom. Sometimes waiting on His call can be difficult, but sometimes His call is in the waiting. Enjoy all those little "luxuries" while you can!

I pray that you will hear Him soon, telling you which way to go.

I have some friends abiding as pastor trainers in Uganda if you are interested in their mission they are Johanna and Billy Coppedge. www.coppedgeafrica.blogspot.com.

She's actually about to give birth to their 2nd baby. This will be the 1st in Uganda as they happened to be stateside last time. Pray for them.

I've been wondering what was on the Zimbabwe horizon for you! There must be a reason why the plan has been has been delayed and it will become clearer to you when the time is right. In the meantime, enjoy where you are and enjoy that new bike. Esme sure looks like she's having a blast but then she always does!

I haven't been very commenty lately and hope you aren't taking it personally. :)

But I do still read your blog and am praying that God will lead you clearly to the place he is preparing for you.

"For I know the plans I have for you..." he says.
