Tiny Talk Tuesday

Esmé (24 months) seems to have a whole new vocabulary to go with her new age...

She had lots to say in yesterday's Airplane post about "Esmé do it!" - her new favorite phrase.

And "Right here!" is another favorite. As in - Put that food right here! Put that paint right here! Put that chair right here! Put me on the potty chair right here

"Not" is way too much in use, I think. As in - Not diaper change! Not bath! Not pants! Not brush teeth! "W!" Not "M!" Not eat cereal! Not pritty! Not beyutiful!

A phrase that's a little more fun for me is "Dis one." Used to describe the whole grand world all around her. As in - Dis one purple juice! Dis one BIG ball! Dis one happy birt-day eat dat! Dis one butt-fly spinkles! Dis one TINY baby! Dis one HOT! Dis one colllddd (shiver)!

Her animal sounds are becoming quite professional. I really need to get a videotape of her Baaaaas and Neighs!

It's lovely to hear the common courtesies become common in her vocabulary. "Dank you" is said often without prompting, and almost always when prompted. And "wa-come" is a new word - she said it over and over in context yesterday morning as I kept thanking her for her generous gifts of grapes - one at a time...

In the middle of breakfast yesterday, Esmé decided another prayer was needed. So she commenced her longest prayer yet, which went along these lines: "Jesus, dank you Mommy, Daddy, Esmé, food, gapes, apples, food? Mommy's gapes, Mommy's apples, Mommy's food? Esmé's gapes, Esmé's apples, Esmé's food. Amen!"

I loved catching up with some of your posts I had missed. You are endlessly talented in your teaching abilities. Love all the stuff you do with her.
My little granddaughter that is almost two is learning to say no thank you ( much better than a cry or scream). We were at church the other day and a big girl she knows held out her arms to hold her. Grammy was holding her and she looked at the girl and said, "No thank you." So cute.

Hard for me to recall days of silence in my house. My 17 year old is about to graduate. He was the 2nd child of 4 and very quiet; I barely remember that time...

He's long made up for his hesitant beginnings at verbiage. Come to think of it, there's not a quiet one in the bunch; no wonder I love midnight!!!

Walk your Easter, friend. Thanks for checking in.

you have a seriously cute, precocious toddler! Miss Esme will learn much of the Father's love from you two. I miss Oregon and your pictures remind me of my home growing up. I also love your fun teaching posts! This blog is a great way to reach out to many!

They know what they want and how they want it, don't they?
