WFMW - "X" Crafts

Tot School

We have been having an excellent "X" week! Here are the crafts and activities that worked for this brand new 23-month-old this week...

Xylophone. We already posted about making a xylophone from glass bottles here.

Xerxes. I played Queen Esmé and King Pappa Xerxes! First Mommy and I made a crown from yellow construction paper and stickers. Then I put the crown on Pappa's head and took lots of photos. But I'm not allowed to post any or all my people will be destroyed.

Then I modeled the crown myself! First I put it on my leg...

Then around my neck...
And then upside down. Which look do you like best?
X Cookies. To make King Pappa Xerxes favorable to all my requests, I made him X cookies from gingerbread cookie dough. To be honest, I ate lots of the dough myself. And those baked cookies go down real well with whipped cream on top!
Xerox. We photocopied my hands! Then I kept matching my real hands to the copy...
X-ray. We made an X out of bones on a black shoe-box lid (cuz we didn't have black construction paper). And I colored a picture of an X-ray.

X Chromosome. We made play doh Xs and Ys and talked about how girls are XX and boys are XY.
Xhosa. Pappa spoke some Xhosa to me and I practiced clicking.

Extra Xs. We made Xs and Os out of play doh, and Mommy drew a tic tac toe board. But we had extra Xs, so we couldn't play very well! Here I am counting the Xs.
X Marks the Spot. We made a treasure map! First Mommy drew it using the house layout - TV, fridge, cat, table, bathtub, bed, etc. Then I scribbled all over it to make it better.

Finally, we rubbed a wet tea bag (rooibos, of course) over the paper and then scrunched it all up.

Then Mommy hid a treasure where the X was, and we put together this kit for the treasure hunt. All necessary stuff, you must agree!

We followed the map, picking up a snack from the fridge on the way. And at last we found the treasure in the closet - right where the X was on the map! It was a little doll. (I had actually discovered it earlier, but don't tell Mommy that...)

We've got one more week to go - "Y" is it! See you next week!

You are the most interesting little girl I know! I just love reading about your adventures!!

And, you make sure Mom knows I gave you a little award because having a crown that you made yourself deserves an award:

What a fun X week.

Putting together a Thursday Thirteen is a great way of saving all those funny things the kids say. Then I know when I want to find one I can run a search on my blog, and there it is even years later.
