Tiny Talk Tuesday

Esmé (23 months) can officially count to 10 now. When she wants to. It helps if Mommy is doing some torture routines, like leg lifts with Esmé on her legs.

---------------
And she officially has several mouths to feed. When she has food on her plate that she's not interested in touching, let alone eating, sometimes I'll take it off and put it on mine.

But today, as I was taking some vegetable dumplings off her plate, she demanded: "Esmé's! Put there!"

So I put them back on her plate. "So are you going to eat them?"

"Esmé not eat it! Dolly eat it!"

So Dolly 1 AND Dolly 2 were ceremoniously brought to the table to "eat it!"

---------------
Why on earth would anyone name a teddy bear "Pooh?" Though I don't think any little kids are questioning it.

But I personally find it disconcerting that whenever I'm changing a poopy diaper and mention the word "poop," Esmé spouts off a long monologue of Pooh's latest and greatest adventures, adding Piglet and Tigger "who bounces" to the mix as well.

---------------
"Big toe" is the big toe on your foot. "Tiny toe" is any other toe on your foot. I wish so that I could capture her inflection here for you!

---------------
Esmé still uses her heart-shaped cookie cutters with play doh. There are five of them in varying sizes.

She came running to me with three of them in her hand. "Big heart!" as she held up the biggest one. "Tiny heart!" as she held up the smallest one. Then she wasn't quite sure what to say about the other one.

So we discussed the concept of medium. "Medium heart," I explained to her, "is what you call the one that is smaller than the big one but bigger than the small one. The one that's in between the other two."

She came up with her own terms for them, though. Big heart is "Pappa heart!" Little heart is "Esmé heart!" And the medium? That's "Mommy heart!"
---------------
Esmé has created her own line of toe rings - used interchangeably on "big toes" and "tiny toes." We're looking into setting up an Etsy shop now...---------------
Shop online at Amazon.com, eBay, and more and support our Zimbabwean orphans! A percentage of all purchases made through The Link Mosaic charity mall during the month of March will be donated to our orphans.

I've often wondered about the whole "Pooh" name myself. The "H" at the end of the word does little to make me not think of something far less pleasing than a cute teddy.

She is impressive! My little Ella is 21 months, and has no where near the language that your little one has!

Winnie the Pooh was originally named after a bear (officially named Winnipeg, nicknamed Winnie) that was a local favorite attraction at a zoo...Author A.A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin, loved Winnie, and therefore named his teddy bear Winnie the Pooh. And the rest is history! Where the "pooh" part came from, no one will ever know but Christopher Robin! Childrens' imaginations...

Hope you're having a great week!

I'd be happy with "medium heart" - at least your not "big pooh."
