Comprehension

I've been talking for like forever, but people are finally startin' to GET what I'm saying!

Let's see - we've had "ball" and "doll" and "dog" and "juice" and "meow" and "book" downpat for a while.

Some handy ones we've added are "open" and "up" and "out." Oh, and "close" too - you need something to open once in a while. Mommy says she's never sure what's gonna come out of my mouth next.

And Mommy finally discovered the Signing Times videos on Totlol.com. I love those - it's like lots of action songs! And I LOVE action songs. Give me just a couple of notes and I start twinkling away, making rainbows, or clamping and stomping and doin' the farmyard dance!

My favorite sign that I do in context is "messy" - I sign it whenever I'm gettin' ready for a bath!

If you don't get what I'm sayin', I am very good at grabbing people by the hand and taking them exactly where I want to go or get something. Like the fridge when I want to eat. Or I'll grab some food out of the pantry and bring it to them - pasta sauce and noodles are my favorite.

If nothing else works, a meltdown ALWAYS gets the message across.

And Mommy's favorite talking experience: One night as she was putting me to bed, I smiled up at her, grabbed her down for a wet kiss, and said "Mum." Then I rolled over and went right to sleep. Maybe it was the fact that I went to sleep that she loved; I'm not sure.

My 3rd baby is 1.5 years and she mainly communicates with sign language. She makes up her own now!

What a sweet age you are at and with so many possibilities before you! You are blessed with opportunity and lead such an interesting life at this early stage!

So much is yet to come!

From Ladybug: I love Signing Time too! I talk all the time but no one understands what I'm saying - what's their problem? But I'm glad that Momma is learning signs so that I can tell her what I want.

I"ll have to call you sometime - I am really good at talking on the phone.

Oh, I love how everyday there seems to be a new word. I tried sign language, but it was hard to get anyone else to do it too. And without consistency Zane never really got it.
