WFMW - "G" Crafts

Welcome to my post on what "G" crafts worked for this 16-month-old last week! "G" was a grand, great, groovy week . . .

Giraffe. Mommy cut a giraffe out of yellow construction paper and taught me how to make spots! I made all of these all by myself with brown paint. She was very impressed with my technique and how well I placed the spots. Then I got tired of making spots.

Glitter Glue. Mommy gave me a card to decorate. She said I could use anything I wanted - markers, stickers, crayons, paint. I decided I liked glitter glue best. And I wanted to use ALL the colors. I am learning to squeeze it out all by myself. Only the tubes are starting to get empty, and it's harder to squeeze when they are empty.

Girl. My friend K painted a border on this wrapping paper, and then Mommy decided we needed some kind of girl art to celebrate G week. So Mommy painted a girl, and I added the finishing touches.

Glass Art. It's fun to try painting different things other than just paper! Mommy gave me some baby food jars to paint. Aren't they pretty?

Gold Stickers. Mommy gave me some gold star stickers to put on this G. She was impressed with how I put them carefully in the polka dots - that was ALL my idea. Maybe I'll figure out how to color in the lines one of these days . . .

More G Stickers. Here are a giraffe and a goofy sticker that I found to put on paper.

Gold Ribbon Gift. I decided to make a gift of myself by wrapping myself in ribbon. And since it was G week, I used gold ribbon, of course!

Growing. In addition to practicing growing myself all week by singing growing songs, Mommy and I tried to get some seeds to grow, too. But nothing has come out yet.

Girlie Stuff. I'm practicing makeup not only on myself (see yesterday's post), but on my dolly, too.

Gavotte. We practiced counting time with music. There are two G demo songs on our keyboard, Gavotte and Grandfather Clock. So we played them and clapped our hands to the beat. I really liked messing with the Tempo button to make the songs faster or slower.

Guitar. I made a box guitar with Mommy's help. We didn't have a Kleenex box, so we used a granola box instead. And we didn't have a paper towel tube, so Mommy stuffed three toilet paper tubes together for the handle.

The handle was very cool. I tried to use it as a recorder first - it made cool sound effects when you made noises into it.

Mommy supervised me very closely on this project, since I've never used rubber bands before. Here I am learning how rubber bands snap at you.

And here I am playing my handy dandy rubber bandy box guitar.

The pictures are always a great touch. It is sad to see her so upset over the rubber bands, but we all have to learn (or re-learn!) that lesson.

I love the glass art idea. I'll need to get my hands on some jars, since my daughter refused baby food!

Poor little sweetie. Those rubber bands can be mean things!

I'm guessing she only made the rubber band mistake once.

Great ideas and I'm going to have to make that guitar with Hailey. How fun!
