Miss Tweety Bird has been a happy part of our family for three years. Esmé even included her in the family portrait photos she took a bit ago. Tweety is gone now – victim to a tumor last month – and it is very quiet in our house these days.
Tweety, a parakeet, was in love with Daddy. He was the highest perch in the house, and she loved boomerang-flying with him, whispering sweet nothings in his ear, and making herself at home on his dinner plate, flinging food willy-nilly.
And she was a terrific microwave oven imitator – too often we’d check to see what we’d left in the microwave, only to realize she was playing tricks on us. She spent as much time upside down as right-side up in her cage, doing flips and sliding down her bars upside down over and over. When she knew she had an audience, she’d go into full-performance mode.
We’re all missing you, lil’ girl!

awww... we have a cockatiel. his name is Paulie and he's 11, the same age as Ben. the Easter bunny brought him when Ben was 3. we love our Paulie bird. I'm sorry to hear about Miss Tweety.
Cute! When I was a kid, we almost always had a parakeet - they really were great pets, and it was hard to say good-bye when those times came.
I loved the short times i was able to meet Tweety. I am sorry he is gone. Good memory pictures...
