Review/Giveaway: Manhattan Toy: PJ Tots

imageThe day before Esmé’s birthday, she got a surprise package in the mail – perfect timing!

Inside was Bonnie Bunny, a PJ Tot from Manhattan Toy.  Esmé and Bonnie (nicknamed Dora) were inseparable for a few days.  Then Esmé formed an attachment with Bonnie’s very cool matching sleeping bag, and since then has been carting all other sorts of animals in that sleeping bag.

imageWhat We Liked:

This doll is the perfect size to tote around, and the sleeping bag makes a perfect carrier.  Soft, cuddly, and cute, it’s appropriate for kids 18 months and up.  It seems durable and able to withstand a lot of cuddles and play.

If your girl is like mine, she is constantly playing as a kitty, ladybug, pony, etc.  These dolls fit perfectly with that mindset and so are easy to relate to.  Ours is a bunny girl; there is also a bear, a frog, a kitty, and a ladybug.

I’d say Esmé’s favorite part is the sleeping bag accessory.  She loves putting her doll and other animals to bed in it.  Of all her “birthday gifts,” Bonnie Bunny and her sleeping bag got the most attention…

What We Didn’t Like:

Initially I was impressed with the velvet-like “hair” Bonnie Bunny had – no tangles!  However, she visited a home with a dog who decided to “play” with her a little, and that velvet fuzz just dissolved right off where the dog’s teeth grabbed her.  A bit disappointing for Esmé, who wishes there was some way Bonnie’s hair would grow back…

If you’d like to purchase a Bonnie Bunny (or check out the other options), the sleeping bag is available for $8, and the doll is $12 on the Manhattan Toy site.  Their toys are also available in specialty stores.

We are excited that Manhattan Toy is giving away a toy to one of you!

My fondest doll memory is when my mom, grandmother, and myself went to buy my first cabbage patch kid doll. They were still very new and I remember the guy bringing two choices from the back. It was like it was all secret and everything. I treasured that doll for many, many years!

My favorite doll was a clown named Beezle Bum that my grandma made for me when I was 2. I took him absolutely everywhere for several years... including back to her house for repairs to his nose - it kept getting smaller and smaller! ;) ajames913@comcast.net

As a kid, I used to save fabric softer sheets and use them as blankets for my dolls.
