Tiny Talk Tuesday

Esmé (35 months) continues to entertain us...

Esmé: Do you want to hear my camel song?

Mommy: Yes.

Esmé: Do you want to hear me sing it?

Mommy: Yes, we're waiting.

Esmé: Maybe I need a pink piano to play.

Mommy: We don't have one.

Esmé: Can you go buy one?

---------------
Speaking of pink, pink makes EVERYTHING acceptable.

Esmé: Daddy, you have a beard!

Pappa: Would you like a beard, too?

Esmé: Only if it's a pink one.

---------------
Explaining the unexplainable...

Esmé: I can't find my purple pony!

Mommy: Where did you play with it last?

Esmé: My purple pony became alive and walked away!

---------------
Math with a two-year-old gets kind of complicated. Especially if they are starting to learn the alphabet in ASL, too.

Pappa: What's 1 + 1 (using index and middle finger)?

Esmé: 1 + 1 makes a V!

Pappa: Let's try this again. What's 1 + 1 (using index and thumb)?

Esmé: 1 + 1 is L!

Pappa: Moving on... What's 5 + 5?

Esmé: Five and five make a butterfly!  (And off she flutters with her 10 fingers)

Mommy (a little later): Let's count your toes. How many are there?

Esmé: 1-2-3-4-5 (one foot). 1-2-3-4-5 (second foot). I have 5 toes!

Mommy: No, you have 5 on one foot and 5 on the other. That's 10 toes!  5 + 5 is 10!

Esmé: No, I only have 5 toes.  See, 5 here, and 5 here.

Mommy Let's try a different question. You have 10 toes. If I take away 5, how many are left?

Esmé: You CAN'T take away my toes!

What a cutie! You can't take away my toes!! Love it!! And love the pony getting up and becoming alive... when we're looking for something around the house my two year old will often say, "maybe it went on a bacation!"
