Aloha Friday

Keepin' things simple with easy questions is what this post's all about. Yep.

So here's the question.
What is a meaningful (not just fun or exciting) tradition for kids in your life? Maybe one while you were growing up, or one for your kids now.

Pappa is kind of anti-tradition, so there haven't been many traditions in our house, but now that I'm around and enjoying that kind of stuff, we're trying to come up with some meaningful things.
Here's one we recently started: Singing "Happy Birthday, World" on Friday nights, and I get to blow out a candle! Plus we make cinnamon rolls for the birthday party. I am excellent at rolling! All that play doh work really pays off!

During decent weather, we take a lot of family hikes or walks in the park systems around here. It's also a 'cheap outing'. lol

Me and my daughter go out for a nice breakfast on her birthday. Even when it was on school days. Making tamales for Christmas Eve dinner is a tradition that my entire family participates in. That's two that I can think of.

Pizza on Christmas Eve, we normally make our own, but sometimes it's easier to do frozen. My husband did this growing up (my family never had traditions) and when we got married, we did it too. It brings us together and we always enjoy making it. Then we normally have a game night!

We always had Friday night dinner when I was growing up. All of my friends knew I couldn't go out on Friday nights until after dinner.

We go shopping the day after Thanksgiving and purchase our Christmas paper. Also, we go pick out, set up and decorate our Christmas tree the first weekend in December - to have it up as long as possible!

A meaningful tradition in our lives right now is worshiping as a family. We hope that as our kids grow that this will be the center point where we can get together and lay it all out even if every other day of the week has been awesome or downright painful.

We always talk before bed. We always have. Just some quiet time where we share about our days, our thoughts etc.

Pizza and pop night every Thursday - and watching a movie while we eat the pizza. The kids tend to get upset if we miss it.
