Zoo Time!

I hab da flu. So do Mommy and Popeye (my current name for Daddy). So there's not much to blog about at the moment, unless you're interested in runny noses and coughs and chills and sweats... Though I am a really good sick kid - I don't whine or complain at all. Now one of us has to summon the strength to drive the 25 miles into town to get some OJ, and it's not gonna be me, as much as I love to drive.

So I thought I'd start catching up on some of the past things I haven't had a chance to blog about. Going chronologically, I guess it all starts that last day that we left Mozambique in the beginning of December. Mommy had the crazy idea that she'd be done packing early and we could go to the zoo in the morning to celebrate the day. Well, the packing wasn't done, but we went anyway, along with Grandma, Auntie Susan, my cousins Janelle & Marquelle, and my friend Kelli. Here are some photos from the trip.

Here we are getting sodas on the hot day. I always have to share my drink with Mommy. When are you officially old enough to get your own drink?
This baby baboon was small enough to get through the bars of his cage and play around on the outside. But his mamma wasn't too happy about that (SHE couldn't get out) and kept grabbing him back in whenever he got close enough. I guess the zoo keepers figured he wouldn't want to go too far from his mamma, just like I don't want to leave mine too far behind, either.

My favorite part of the zoo was the playground! Here I am see-sawing with Auntie Susan.

And swinging with Marquelle. (You'll be pleased to know, Marquelle, that I kept saying your name over and over while we were looking through the zoo photos.)

I'm a little confused as to what this is. We had been reading the Christmas story at the time, so I called it donkey back then. But Mommy started telling me that what I thought were donkeys were actually horses. So when I looked at this photo today, I called it a horse. What do you think it is?

Just smoochin' with the goats. I like them much more than cows - cows are big and scary!

There were lots of other animals, too, like ostriches and crocodiles and duikers and monkeys and snakes and turtles and chickens other birds.
And we did make it to the airport in time to catch our flight, though we weren't packed exactly as we would have liked...

The baby baboon sure is cute. My friend's daughter has a capuchin monkey. They are fun too watch... but I wouldn't want one. Lots of work and he tried to pinch my dog.
