"F" Activity Trays

Tot School

"F" is one of those fantastically fun filled to over-flowing letters of the alphabet... Frogs, fish, foxes, fingers, feet, feelings, food, fireflies, four, five, the list goes on and on and on...

Today we'll show you "some" of our activity trays and stuff from these two weeks of "F" school.

Next week we'll do the "F" adventures; Mommy is frantically trying to figure out how to get it all in one post.

Apologies to those of you viewing this in Firefox; the photos and captions probably won't be lined up correctly. For some reason, photos float in Firefox...

Sensory Tub. Feathers, of course! These work well for dress-up, for crafts, for trailing around the house, and just for touching and feeling and tickling!

Felts. Oh yes, we now have a felt board! So there are tons of F things to do on a felt board. Like these ten fish, to go with the book Ten Little Fish by Audrey Wood - one of my absolute favorites!

Or parts to make up my very own face. If you want to get complicated, as we're going to do for our "feeling" adventure, you can make smiles and frowns and other types of feeling faces...

For color matching, here are two felt fruit trees, one for apples and one for oranges. We did these before during "A" week, too...

Flower Faces.
Speaking of colors, these flower face erasers were so popular during "E" school that we did them for "F" school, too. You dump all the erasers in a pile and then sort them by color.

And when you get tired of sorting by color - trust me, I am a major color expert and Mommy's gonna have to get me some harder color things to do - then you can invent a new thing to do - make flower stamps with your flower erasers!

Rubber Stamps. Speaking of which, I had my rubber stamp tray, too - filled with "F" stamps to make bookmarks and cards.

Stickers & Notepads. Also useful in making bookmarks and cards and decorating my world in general is my sticker/notepad tray, with lots of flowery stuff this week!

Flowers. And speaking of flowers,
here is my flower insert tray - lots of single-stemmed tulips, with a single-flower vase, a multiple-flower vase, and a toothbrush holder. You take all the flowers out and then insert them back into the vases...

Flower Spreading. I also have some flower knives. With supervision, I get to spread peanut butter and stuff like that on my bread... And cut bananas.

Fish. This is one of my favorite activities - probably cuz water is involved. Before I start, I have Mommy put water into the glass jar. Then I put colorful glass rocks into it, and then small plastic fish and other ocean creatures. And then I play and play in the water and take stuff in and out...

Frogs. Speaking of water, this one has water, too - and I got in trouble for
dumpingspilling it all over the floor this morning. We sing 5 Green and Speckled Frogs while I make the 5 little frogs jump off the log into the little pond (bowl) of water.

The frogs come from this little game Mommy found at a thrift store, so when my pond is dried up, I can put on the frogs on their pegs.

Feelings. Here are some "feeling" memory cards we made a while ago. One set of cards I waterpainted; the other is plain. I used to just match them up, but now I play memory with them, because matching is just too easy!

Family. I like playing with my family tree puzzle - and naming everybody in it! Pappa thinks it's funny that I call the gray-haired grandma "mommy" sometimes.

Four. Of course, my counting just keeps getting better and better! I've started playing Connect Four with Mommy. Right now I am just concentrating on the fact that I only get one color and that red and black take turns until we fill up the whole frame.

Foam. You can get all kinds of things in foam! Here are my foam letters that I play with in the bathtub.

And I have foam beads to make a necklace and bracelet with, too (all on a flamingo flowery tray)!

I am really good at beading. But I am even better at taking all the beads off when I'm done.

Fan. I have a new fan for dress-up.

Squishy Stuff. And a squishy fish toy.

And a squishy frog toy. Good for sensory testing and relaxation and all that...

Play Doh. Here's the ever-present play doh basket, with flowers and feet and flags and that sort of cookie cutter...

Food. How could we have "F" school without food stuff to play with? Here's my kitchen. I just fed dolly a huge sandwich in her high chair. Come on over for some food sometime, too!
We got stacks more stuff for you next week already. "F" sure is fun!

Jane,
You continue to amaze me with all of the planning for Miss Esme's benefit. I am sure she is very smart... even smart enough to pretend she has no idea what you are talking about sometimes.

Esme,

You precious little wonder. I would very much like to play connect four with you one day. I play it with my nephews all the time!
