...a week and a day late! We'll do our best to get caught up this week...

This week's theme was the book The Boy And The Quilt by Shirley Kurtz, which, to be honest, wasn't my favorite choice. I did let Mommy read it once a day or so, and I had fun with the activities, mostly from The Itty-Bitty Bookworm curriculum.

I also liked reading:

• The Josefina Story Quilt (I Can Read Book 3) by Eleanor Coerr. Mommy was surprised I enjoyed this one so much, since it's a fairly long chapter book, but I asked for it over and over.
• Geraldine's Blanket by Holly Keller. This was my favorite!

One thing the book did was inspire me to CUT! Mommy found THIS scene all over the place when I was supposed to be working on projects...
For a science experiment, we froze two cups of water. Then we wrapped one in a quilt and left the other out in the open. When the ice in the open cup was totally melted, we checked out the cup in the quilt. There was still a big block of ice in there! So we learned that quilts don't MAKE you warm, they just KEEP you warm.

We had some hot apple cider while wrapped in a blanket.

And had "quilt" bread...

And had a picnic on a quilt, 'cuz that's what you DO with quilts.

You also use them to cover up your little ponies so they'll be nice and warm when they sleep.

I practiced tracing squares onto foam and material, and then cutting them out.

I sorted out and counted quilt squares. There were 11 of the big squares and 12 of the small squares, since we've been studying the numbers 11 and 12.

I practiced sewing! First with pipe cleaner and hole-punched foam that I had pasted one of my quilt squares on.

Then with a hoop.

Mommy cut some slits into material and put it in a hoop. Then she taped a craft stick to some yarn so I could sew the yarn through the slits.

I cut up some yarn and glued the pieces onto a printing of my name - to look like stitches.

Mommy helped me finish it up. Here it is!

We made a "favorite things" paper quilt with pictures I picked out of some magazines. Mommy helped me cut the green duct tape and lay it out.

I practiced sorting jingle bells by size and color.

And we played "Ring the Bell" by throwing a bean bag (ziploc bag of beans in a sock) onto the snowflake, which was over a counter bell.

I made a snow painting with a marble and white paint in a pan.

And we sang "One little, two little, three little snowmen" with my 10 snowmen puppets. Then I cut them all up.

Here's my Strawberry Shortcake paper doll! I cut that baby up quick, by the way. (And that's Mommy's iPod Touch in my other hand - very cool! I haven't cut that up yet.)

I sorted snowmen shapes by size. Then I cut them up.

And worked on my name...

"G" was our letter of the week, so I did a Do-a-Dot picture of a goat.

I did a worksheet where you put a marker on the Gs. But we used flat glass marbles as markers, and I decided I should wrap them up in a quilt square instead of finishing the worksheet. It's not like I don't know my Gs.

I was supposed to paste G clipart onto a collage page, but I decided to cut it up instead.

Here's a brand new wipe-off book Mommy found at a thrift store - I've been practicing my alphabet on it!

And a new I Spy bag, also from a thrift store - with some really cool stuff inside! And letters and numbers, too.
