I turned 17 months old yesterday. In honor of that milestone, here are 13 things about me at this point in my long life!
- I have 17 teeth – one for each month! I brush them all by myself. That means I am dentally advanced for my age . . .
- I weigh 26 pounds. I am 32.5 inches tall. That means I am no longer way off the growth charts like I used to be. I am now between the 75th and 90th percentile for girls, which Mommy says is a good place to be.
- I can run and walk backwards and walk in Mommy's shoes and do splits.
- I can kick a ball forward, throw a ball forward, and stand with one foot on a ball.
- I know more words than Mommy does, seeing as she doesn’t speak any Afrikaans or Portuguese or Shona.
- I refuse to say Please or Thank You or You’re Welcome yet, though.
- I can name lots of things in pictures, including monkeys and cats and dogs and hippos and elephants and babies and balls and stars and bunnies.
- I am still learning to push myself while standing on a skateboard. I can skateboard just fine when kneeling or sitting on the board.
- I am all ready to start potty training. I can put toilet paper in the toilet and would love to flush it if Mommy would let me. So now I just have to convince Mommy to let me stop wearing diapers . . .
- I scribble very well. I can scribble any where, any time, and on anything. I can take caps off pens and markers all by myself.
- I can dress myself. My style leans towards funk, including underwear over my head and around my neck, shirts on my legs, and rubber bands on my wrists. Oh, and sunglasses in my mouth and nose.
- I can tell the time. Not in any language you would understand. It's a language between me and my Rolex. And I KNOW when you're messing around with my naptimes and meal times.
- I think dolls should not have clothes on. Why do people keep putting clothes on my dolls?
Now, here I am demonstrating #4:

You just keep getting better, Esme! Love your fashion style!
You are getting big!
My little guy has the same style; and it is COOL.
She's growing up so fast!
Such an over-achiever! :)
and adorable too.
Wow...you are definitely a talented big girl Esme. :) And don't worry...the dolls in our house are not supposed to have clothes on either...
how adorable is that soccer picture! when you become a soccer star that picture will be worth a ton of money! (a ton is a lot. trust me!)
Look at you getting all grown up already! *is impressed*
Great job with the ball. You may have a future in sports!
esme...you are absolutely precious!
I just love your Thursday posts :)
Look how big Esme is getting!
17 months is such a wonderful age - so much cuteness and the real sass hasn't set in yet.
dear esme,
you are 17 months of pure perfection!!!
love,
dani
"dentally advanced"!
I didn't even know there was such a thing. I just got Charlotte her own toothbrush a few weeks ago, now if only I can remind her dad to brush her teeth during bath time we'd be all set!
cutie! keep on journaling your milestone.
Here's my entry -- http://www.joarduo.com/2008/09/tt-48-13-movies.html
Happy TT!
Esme...are you going to be a soccer player? You are beautiful!
God bless you.
what a beautiful child!!
what a beautiful child!!
This made me laugh! Especially the dressing herself and undressing her dolls parts! Uncannily familiar...
17 teeth already? Wow!
Love the one about dolls. We have that same issue at our house. I don't even bother with the re-dressing anymore.
She's so beautiful! I know you've enjoyed the blessing of her presence the past 17 months.
What a smart little cookie Esme is! Fly also had a lot of teeth early on. I think he only has two more molars to go, and he will have all of his baby teeth.
If you don't know those other languages, do you ever wonder if she is saying something in one of those languages or just babbling? ;)
Love it! What a great diary for all of you. You're a doll!
Oh, sweetie, you are so smart! And cute! Tell your mama she is doing an EXCELLENT job and recording everything you do...you'll be so happy she did that later on.
ooooh she's so cute and so big for only 17 months!
soccer ball and all!
My my, you're growing up so quickly!
How very sweet! Your gonna be so glad you have all this written down when she gets older... mine were 17 months only yesterday it seems!

Very impressive soccer poise!!!
SUCH a big girl! And that is SOME trick with the soccer ball!
Happy Happy Birthday, sweet baby!
